If you are keen to play any of the above please check the website www.tbcoba.org.nz & register with the person responsible for that sport. TBC Sport
The school rugby team departs for a tour of the United Kingdom next week and I have attached the itinerary for anyone who may be in that part of the world who may like to catch up with them... Two members of this year’s 1st XV ( Sam Kane & Carl Axtens) have just been named in the NZSS team.
The Under 15 elite side came 10th out of 16 teams at New Plymouth after losing in Pool Play to Napier & Wesley.
The Under 14 elite boys won their tournament in Palmerston North beating PNBHS, Rotorua BHS, Wellington College, Hastings BHS & Gisborne BHS in the process.
The 1st XI football side completed their competition as Federation 2 League winners. Nationals in Nelson saw the team perform well in pool play but come up against eventual winners Mt. Albert GS in their quarter final which was tough. They ended up placing 8th in the country for 2009.
The 1st XI Hockey team had a disappointing tournament at India Shield struggling to score goals in big matches. In lead up games they held their own against 3 of the Rankin Cup finalists but at tournament ended up 13th. The 2nd XI performed well placing 4th at National 2nd XI tournament while locally in the College Grade TBC Teams won both the A & B Grades which was a first for 4 years.
The school surf team contested nationals 2 Raglan & achieved a best evr finish of 2nd without their star surfer, men’s national champ Matt Hewitt. Alex Dive & Peri Matenga were selected for the NZ Junior training squad to contest the World’s at Piha in January. Our school team of 12 leaves for a week of training in Tonga next Wednesday.
Golf nationals were held at the Manukau Golf Club and the school team were placed 5th in the country.
Our yachties continue to perform at a high level with Ben Caundle selected in the NZ Optimist team to compete in the European Champs in Slovenia while Luke Stevenson, following in Olympian Peter Burling’s footsteps, placed 7th out of 122 boats in the World 420 Champs held at Riva Del Garda in Italy.
The basketballers have just won their Baywide championships and are building to their nationals which occur in the upcoming holidays.
