A number of the teams above are priming well for tournament week as results below suggest ......
Rugby - 1st XV Victory against Gisborne BHS meant our side placed 2nd in one of the closest Super 8 competitions ever
Rugby - 2nd XV Another good win from this side meant an unbeaten Super 8 and victory overall
Squash - NZ SS competitions have just been completed and our boys ended 6th in the country – their best ever result. The highlight was a 2-3 loss to Auckland GS who have been national champions for the last 5 years. All of our team return in 2010 so even better should be achieved then !!!!
Football - Our 1st XI, coached by James Pamment, had an impressive 4-2 victory away to Auckland GS and backed that up with promotion by winning their local competition. They should perform well at nationals.
Basketball - Our lads won this competition for the first time in a decade in dramatic fashion. They lost to 2 times champs PNBHS in pool play & then found themselves in a rematch in the final. Captain Adam Dunstan, who was MVP for the tournament, drained a clutch 3 pointer with 2 seconds left on the clock to take out a famous victory 66-65.
Hockey - The 1st XI had the last of their quad tournaments & performed extremely well against 3 Rankin Cup teams. We were 4-0 down against national champs Westlake BHS before fighting back for a 4 all draw, beat Hamilton BHS 4-1 & then in the final were beaten 4-3 by Auckland GS who are always in the running for top national honours.
That’s it for now,
Rob Leslie
